Solving problems inspires Marshall safety engineer
Van Strickland, an engineer with the Safety and Mission Assurance Office at the Marshall Center, isn't afraid to tackle a challenge. Strickland recognized by NASA for his significant contributions in protecting the welfare of NASA employees works to ensure the safety of future space travel by providing technical direction in testing unmanned flight vehicle prototypes.

In his spare time, Strickland's hobby is helping others. He's a mentor for student interns, teaching them professional skills while they explore career options in a high-technology field. He also speaks to youth groups encouraging children to seek science and engineering careers and volunteers at a community center as a tutor.
