NASA Marshall Center sets Safety Day activities Oct. 23, including keynote from noted stress expert

Safety Day at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center will feature activities underscoring the importance of safety in the space program, as well as everyday life. Noted psychologist Dr. Joseph Mancusi, president of the Center for Organizational Excellence in Sterling, Va., will be the keynote speaker. Mancusi will focus on the connection between stress and unsafe behavior.  Safety Day activities will also feature safety displays, group workshops and awards.

What:          Safety Day at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center will feature activities underscoring the importance of safety in the space program, as well as everyday life. Noted psychologist Dr. Joseph Mancusi, president of the Center for Organizational Excellence in Sterling, Va., will be the keynote speaker. Who:           Marshall Center Director Art Stephenson will recognize employees for efforts to ensure their workplace is hazard-free.  Astronauts will be on hand to talk about the importance of safety in space flight.

When:         Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, 8:30 a.m. CDT

Where:       Marshall Center, Bldg. 4200, Morris Auditorium

To attend: News media interested in covering the event should contact the Marshall Media Relations Department at (256) 544-0034.  Media must report to Gate 1, Martin Road exit at South Memorial Parkway. Vehicles are subject to security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance.  Visitor parking is available in front of Bldg. 4200 on the southwest side.
