Air Force Academy, Citadel Mall to host NASA exhibit
NASA’s futuristic Starship 2040 experience touches down in Colorado Springs April 4-11

Members of the Colorado Springs community are getting a look at the future of space transportation and NASA's vision of what space flight might be like in 40 years. NASA's futuristic Starship 2040 exhibit is in Colorado Springs this week. NASA representatives will be available to speak to visitors about NASA's current and future activities.

What: NASA joins the nation's leading commercial, private and military aerospace professionals for the 18th annual National Space Symposium, April 8-11 at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo. NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe will be a keynote speaker at the conference. Among the highlights of the event: The Starship 2040 exhibit, NASA's vision of a commercial spaceliner as it might exist 40 years from now. Housed in a 48-foot tractor and trailer rig, the futuristic exhibit is managed by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.

Who: Dennis Smith, manager of the Second Generation Reusable Launch Vehicle Program Office at the Marshall Center, will participate in a panel discussion on the future of the space launch industry. Smith and other NASA officials will be available for media interviews.

Where: The Broadmoor Hotel, 1 Lake Circle, Colorado Springs, Colo.

When: The Symposium opens at 7 a.m. April 8. Dennis Smith will take part in a panel discussion Tuesday, April 9, at 2 p.m. in the Broadmoor's International Center. NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe will address attendees Thursday, April 11, at 8:30 a.m. in the International Center.

Starship 2040 will be open for public tours outside the Broadmoor Hotel from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 8, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 10, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 11. The exhibit is open to Symposium attendees only from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 9.
