NASA Administrator to brief media Feb. 4 on 2003 budget; Marshall director to discuss Center outlook

What: The NASA fiscal year 2003 budget briefing for news media is scheduled for 2 p.m. CDT, Monday, Feb. 4. The event originates at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and will be broadcast live on NASA TV. NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe will participate in the briefing and answer questions.

Following the Headquarters briefing, Art Stephenson, director of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will discuss Marshall's funding allocation under the budget proposal and the outlook for Marshall Center's major programs.

Following each briefing, there will be an opportunity to pose budget-related questions. A summary of the NASA budget will be distributed at the beginning of the news media briefing.

When: 2 p.m. CDT, Monday, Feb. 4

Where: Marshall Center Newsroom, Room 115 in Building 4200 on Rideout Road

To attend: News media interested in covering the event should contact Jerry Berg of the Marshall Media Relations Department at (256) 544-0034. To attend, media must report to Redstone Arsenal Gate 1 (Martin Road exit off South Memorial Parkway). Vehicles are subject to security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance.

NASA television is on GE-2, transponder 9C, located at 85 degrees west longitude, with vertical polarization. Frequency will be on 3880.0 MHz, with audio on 6.8 MHz.
