Marshall Space Flight Center Employee Wins NASA Procurement Award |
|
NASA has given its annual Small Business Procurement Leadership Award to James Bradford of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. for his work on an Internet-based system that streamlines the procurement process. Bradford, of Huntsville, received the honor Sept. 23 at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He was recognized for his extraordinary leadership and advocacy of NASA's small and disadvantaged business program, including training participants on the use of NASA's Acquisition Internet Service. The World Wide Web service provides online access to advance procurement notices, solicitations and other information. The service reduces paper, cuts lead-times and saves money for NASA and industry. The Minority and Small Business awards are given annually to employees, minority contractors and subcontractors for their strong support of NASA programs. Bradford, the team lead for planning and systems management in the Marshall Procurement Office, joined the Marshall Center in 1979. He earned his bachelor's degree in general management from the business school at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and is a member of the school's Commerce Executives Society. He earned a master's degree in contract and acquisition management from the Florida Institute of Technology at Huntsville. Bradford is a Tuscaloosa native and the son of Jim and Annette Bradford of Tuscaloosa. |
