For Release: Aug. 13, 1996 Ed Campion Jerry Berg RELEASE NO.: 96-157 MARSHALL CENTER SELECTS LOCKHEED MARTIN FOR UTILIZATION & MISSION SUPPORT CONTRACT NASAs Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., has awarded a contract to Lockheed Engineering & Science Company of Houston, Texas, for support services related to Marshall work in the areas of Space Shuttle missions, Spacelab missions, the Advanced X-Ray Astrophysics Facility and the international Space Station. Major subcontractors to Lockheed are New Technology Inc. and bd Systems, both of Huntsville. Under the contract, Lockheed Engineering & Science will complete the design and development of enhanced systems for the Huntsville Operations Support Center, as well as providing operations and maintenance of hardware and software systems for mission operations and science support for Marshall-managed spaceflight projects. The effort is a cost-plus-award-fee contract for a base period of three years, with two one-year options. The estimated contract value, if all five years of work are performed, is approximately $89 million. |
