For Release: Oct. 12, 1995 Angela Storey RELEASE: 95-78 LOCAL TEACHER PARTICIPATES IN NASA SUMMER PROGRAM Katherine Fayette of Reserve, La., was one of thirty-two math, science and technology teachers from seven states who participated in the 1995 Summer Teacher Enrichment Program at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. Fayette is a teacher at East St. John High School. During the four-week program the teachers observed and worked with NASA engineers and scientists in the Marshall Center laboratories. They learned what practicing engineers and scientists do on a daily basis; became familiar with modern technology as it relates to the classroom; and developed education activities that they will use in their classrooms. The four-week program enhances the knowledge of teachers in math, science and technology by exposing them to NASA hands-on projects and experiments. The teachers then bring these "real" life experiences back to students in the classroom. |
