For Release: June 14, 1995 Dave Drachlis RELEASE: 95-38N NOTE TO EDITORS: NASA AND ALABAMA TO RENEW TECHNOLOGY AGREEMENT WHICH HAS BOOSTED STATE ECONOMY BY $90 MILLION NASA and the State of Alabama will renew a cooperative agreement in Montgomery tomorrow that has resulted in 1,700 jobs and almost 80 new products worth $90 million to Alabama's economy over the past two-and-a-half-years. Alabama Governor Fob James Jr., NASA Administrator Daniel S. Goldin, and Porter Bridwell, director of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will meet at the state capitol at 9:30 a.m. to reaffirm a memorandum of understanding which facilitates the transfer of space technologies to businesses, academic institutions and individuals in the state. Following the signing in the Old Archives Room on the second floor of the capitol, Governor James and Administrator Goldin will meet briefly with the press. Then, at 10:30 a.m. Goldin will address a joint session of the Alabama Legislature in the Alabama State House. News media are invited to cover both events. |
