" said Shane Smith, a student at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, just before the school's rocket ignited and lifted from its homemade launch pad and soared into the blue. Smith was paraphrasing astronaut Alan Shepard who made a similar statement on May 5, 1961 prior to his first flight. (NASA/MSFC)
