Alabama lawmakers, NASA, university officials to mark new science research center opening Monday
What: Alabama lawmakers, along with NASA and university officials, will celebrate the grand opening of the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC). With its core facility in Huntsville, Ala., the NSSTC brings together researchers and educators in pursuit of breakthroughs in space science, Earth sciences, information technology, optics and energy technology, propulsion, biotechnology and materials science. The NSSTC was formed in partnership with NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville and the State of Alabama's six research universities. At full capacity, the center will house approximately 450 people from NASA, other government agencies, academia and private industry.
